    A rare update.
For forty days and for forty nights I will be on the site mourning Michael Jackson. After a few days of thinking I feel this is the only way I can honor my favorite musician.

What exactly is the site you ask? Well it's a place where you dance in the round, and don't think twice (do think twice).

Anyhow all shitty Jackson jokes aside, I know that there will never be anyone who'll live up to him. At least not for me, that bastard replacement would have to get started today at the age of 10 to even compare.

So for my own private MJ Eulogy I'd like to share a few of my favorite memories (in chronological order).

The first song I ever recall hearing from him was “You wanna be starting something.” I heard this in 84-85 as a little girl watching kids in the projects break dance in the street, while eating push pops and drinking Kool aid.

Thriller (and the making of) actually came out on vhs by itself around 85 or so, and my old baby sitter Veronica's mother owned it. I would watch it every time I was over there and would laugh at Michael getting his catman contacts put in. The reason this was so hysterical to me was mostly because it was Cat eyed Michael Jackson crying and saying "this feels like hot sauce in my eye."

With Billie Jean and Thriller I would watch them every weekend religiously in the 80's because my mother had them both on vhs (with other well loved 80's videos of mine). When watching Billie Jean I would ponder if he was a ghost or just a fucked up dude. And with Thriller I would practice my pathetic zombie dancing like every other kid.

Later on Veronica would give me her copy of Thriller on cassette after seeing just home music I loved it. It was the first non nursery rhymes cassette I ever owned.

When Bad came out people had been saying "WTF has Michael been doing all this time," right before it was released. That was when everyone saw the new lighter Michael for the first time and the real gossip began. Amongst my friends who were Jackson fans (mainly Nyla) we didn't care we just wanted to try and dance like the fold out portion of the album cover and watch Moonwalker in to the ground.

I discovered that my grandmother actually had 3 Jackson 5 records in her collection and decided to play/scratch them up when she wasn't home. That's when I realized how great young Michael was as well.

Skipping ahead a bit, I remember when "Black or White" and "Remember the Time" premiered on Fox and I taped their debuts. At the end of Black or White when everyone's faces were morphing into other ones I distinctly remember shitting myself cause I had never seen anything like that before. To bad he ruined it by turning into a vandalizing panther.

Remember the time was a great video that un-fortunately featured Eddie Murphy. I say unfortunately because in exchange for being in Michael’s video, Michael had to be in Eddie's. Thus the vile song that is "What's up with you," was born and burned at the stake.

My Jackson adventures didn't end there, and there are many I left out but these are the ones that most easily come to mind when I remember him. Although I never saw him in concert and some what loathed his later work (to many messages of peace turn me off), I still feel like all those old melodies and memories have gotten so sad all of a sudden. No-one here in Japan is mourning him the way the states has. No dancing in the streets, no radio tributes, the most I've seen is on store in Akiba playing his music.

Well after more than one full year I’ve finally returned to live journal to give an update on the “who, what when where and why,” in my life now.

First, I’d like to say that I’m still in Japan and STILL loving it. My time spent in Chiba was fairly short but I’m happy to have relocated to Tokyo and can proudly say I’m only 15 minutes from Shibuya, and 20 minutes from Shinjuku.
My apartment is PIMP, having been designed by some up and coming space efficiency apartment arcitect; and was just built in May 2008. So for the first time ever, I’m the first person to live in my apartment. I haven’t taken any pictures yet, but it features shiny red doors, a walk in closet (a separate shoe closet), grey slate walls with and industrial feel and just an over-all “modern” “urban” feel. The best thing about it is that it’s insulated, with hard wood floors and no pre-existing mold, so, so far I haven’t had any mysterious respiratory problems.

My new job is at a company called PLS and it’s a great environment to work in. Although it’s REALLY demanding at times, it pays GREAT, and my co-workers are all actually cool, intelligent people I don’t mind hanging out with. However the boss (who’s an American who lives in California 90% of the year) is really overbearing when he’s around the Japanese office. I actually hide from him if I know there’s something he could bust me for. Overall, when I’m at work I feel so special because I beat out more than 400 other applicants for this position (thanks to the Nova crisis).

Gaming is still my number one priority in life and I just recently finished Fire Emblem Dawn of Radiance and Fatal Frame 3 for the Wii. In the arcades I’ve given up trying to hone my SF 4 skills (cause Japanese salary men are fucking vicious) and have almost permanently switched to “Lord of Vermillion” by Square-Enix. LoV is by far one of the most innovative and addictive games I have ever played. And for those who’d like to know what it’s about you’d better look it up!

On my DS I’ve been ripping through the games thanks to train time and have finished Etrian Odyssey, Luminous Arc (not worth playing) all the Phoenix Wrights/ Apollo Justice and am currently working on the remake of FF IV and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2 (which gets the majority of my time). I’ve yet to invest in a next-gen system but from the looks of it I might have to change my traditional ways and get an X-box 360 cause they’ve got all the good RPG’s.

On the Japanese front I practice with a salary man named Teru on Saturdays and he’s a pretty cool guy, although he’s really fond of cayenne pepper on his Yoshinoya beef bowl (which might explain why his teeth are black, most likely charred if I had to guess.)

I’ve tried to become more fashionable in the last year and I think I’m failing, I’ve come a long way since oversized T-shirts but for some reason I still feel strange when I try to look “New York” stylish.

My friends in Tokyo are great the two most important being Stella and Kijana. Stella is in the Jet program living in a city called Togane in Chiba and Kijana lives on the AFB and gives me access to American delicacies like Red Vines and Starbursts on the occasion. The two of them are great and I find that I attend many events (like Comiket, Tokyo Game show and Tokyo design festa) with both or one of them.

Also there’s my favorite co-worker Laura whose sincerity and hard work has actually touched my cold vicious heart. When she’s around the office is just a bit brighter cause we’re both suffering and hiding from the boss together.

Right now I can say I’m very happy with my life in Toyko. ^_^ I can also say that I owe an ass load of people an e-mail or two. I’ve just gotten so busy in Tokyo that it’s hard for me to actually sit down and write out something without worrying about what I’m not doing (ie: watching my favorite television shows or playing games in the arcade). So look for something from me either in your e-mail in box or actually in-box soon!

    Lots of love from Tokyo!

p.s you can always e-mail me at honey_bunny_d@yahoo.com too!

    Playing Diagaea 2.
A while Back Carpboy downloaded a top 100 of the 80's torrent. This featured the top 100 hits from 80-89 and has slightly more than 1000 songs (somehow). I've been listening to it while slugging my way though item world while making a concious effort not to skip any tracks.

So for the first time in my life I heard the Pina Colada song in it's entirity, and I was genuinly suprised at what it was about. *cough* Here are the lyrics

I was tired of my lady
    We'd been together too long
    Like a worn-out recording
    Of a favorite song
So while she lay there sleeping
I read the paper in bed
    And in the personal columns
There was this letter I read

    "If you like Pina Coladas
And getting caught in the rain
    If you're not into yoga
If you have half a brain
If you'd like making love at midnight
In the dunes on the Cape
Then I'm the love that you've looked for
    Write to me and escape."

I didn't think about my lady
I know that sounds kind of mean
But me and my old lady
Have fallen into the same old dull routine
So I wrote to the paper
    Took out a personal ad
    And though I'm nobody's poet
I thought it wasn't half bad

    "Yes I like Pina Coladas
And getting caught in the rain
I'm not much into health food
    I am into champagne
I've got to meet you by tomorrow noon
And cut through all this red-tape
    At a bar called O'Malley's
    Where we'll plan our escape."

So I waited with high hopes
And she walked in the place
I knew her smile in an instant
I knew the curve of her face
It was my own lovely lady
And she said, "Oh it's you."
Then we laughed for a moment
And I said, "I never knew."

    That you like Pina Coladas
    Getting caught in the rain
And the feel of the ocean
    And the taste of champagne
If you'd like making love at midnight
In the dunes of the Cape
You're the lady I've looked for
    Come with me and escape

I don't know what motivates a person to write/sing about their un-succesful attempt at cheating on their lover/wife! In fact I couldn't stop laughing at how in trying to escape from one another they discover how lame they both are.

As a brit, I have had to put up with Hollywood constantly doing unspeakble sex acts to British history (Titanic, Braveheart, etc). At least in Bedknobs and Broomsticks, they had a bit of fun with it. But let me put the record straight, in 1940 when my country was threatend by the evil tht was nazism, it was the brave 'few' of the Royal Air Force that held them off and not Angela Lansbury with some suits of armour from a museum. Don't belive Hollywood, they're a bunch of tossers.

This is good stuff. I don't know what inspires people to write some of these e-mails.

    Quality British Lit.

    Holmes glanced at his watch.

"It is a quarter-past two," he said. "Your telegram was dispatched
about one. But no one can glance at your toilet and attire without
seeing that your disturbance dates from the moment of your waking."

Our client smoothed down his unbrushed hair and felt his unshaven chin.

"You are right, Mr. Holmes. I never gave a thought to my toilet. I was
only too glad to get out of such a house. But I have been running
round making inquiries before I came to you. I went to the house
agents, you know, and they said that Mr. Garcia's rent was paid up all
right and that everything was in order at Wisteria Lodge."

Marmalade or Jam? No, I'll just have poop.
Today I felt like updating my damn live journal and I honestly don’t understand why. But maybe that reason is partly due to the dawn of my final college days, and the un-explained contentness with my life. It has taken me more than 3 years to reach this point, but after shedding a mantel of financial dependence and doing the things I love best again I can genuinely smile and say “I’m glad to be alive.”

    So what’s new with me…………..

The Home: Carpboy is my roommate, and I beat on him night and day! I demand daily sacrifices of bean dip, and “I know you just got back from work and want to desperately sit down, but bugs got into the flour I was going to use to bake cookies that I wasn’t going to share with you, and I need you to go to the store and get me some more!” Well maybe it’s not that harsh…….I’d just bake with the bug flour and THEN share the cookies. (Dear Carpboy, I saw the ants having a party on your ribs. I would have told you but there was this random paper bag and decided to trick my dog into going inside. Sincerely, Honey Bunny)
Other than having Matt as an awesome roommate, the apt is really hot all the time, even now in the dead of winter, and I’ve become Queen of the underwear bandits. The grounds around the apt are still glass-tastic, but it’s improved somewhat, however University House is no longer the party capital it once was.

Work: So yep I have a job, one I enjoy very much too. I have passed into the realm of piano teacher! I do both private lessons and teach classroom lessons to groups for a company known as Elements. Going back to elementary schools and forcing my ways on students really makes me long for those almost surreal days of childhood. I wonder if I where to roam the halls of my old school would I see the ghost of my youthful self? Because these school honestly suck the youth right out of you and trap it there.

Anyhow I teach 3 classes a week, and do private lessons on Wed’s and Friday’s. Out of the actually school settings the only class I enjoy is my Wed one, which I co-teach with a cool girl named Genieve. These kids actually pay attention and enjoy playing games (unlike Monday’s class which was with a girl I hate named Christa for the longest time).

    Here’s a picture of them:

    http://honeybunny.50megs.com/Deandra/keyboardingclass.jpg

I think the reason I’m so happy lately is that I actually bought myself a piano, and had the Garcia’s drag it up 3 flights of stairs. Having that piano, and being able to play it when, and for as long as I want has honestly restored a piece of me that I’ve long lost. My latest exploits have been the songs of Zelda, and trying to perfect any of the piano collections versions of FF6 songs, which honestly blow my mind -_-.

Oh ya in regards to work I make bank! And by bank I mean a small one that gets robbed by bandits every 9 minutes.

Play: Working my way through RE 4, the most fun and simultaneously un-Resident Evil like game I’ve ever played. I love that game, but it’s not an RE to me, it’s DMC with Leon and parasites. Other than that Suikoden IV is waiting patiently, and Star Ocean 3 is back on the books.

Family: Grandmother is grandmother, and Ozzie is still a woogie. Yet, he hit the big 15 this Oct! So now he’s a super old woogie who officially has 3 teeth ;_;.

Travel I think I had my biggest years of travel last year. I was lucky enough to take trips to California, England, Germany (it’s really hard to escape from there), France (my favorite country) Sweden, New York, Texas, and Las Vegas. I learned a lot about the world last year and a lot about people. Now, I am truly the Renaissance woman I so longed to be.

Friends: Who new that such bizarre circumstances could lead to an awesome friendships. Mistress09 3empermalmix and LeafClippings made last year (and the start of this one) one of the best of my life. A huge majority of that genuine smile is thanks to them and our really bizarre mis-adventures.

There’s the people of OB as well, who make all my Cali trips awesome. Especially Bustajones, Magical Kurt, and Skynet.

Cosplay: Not only did I go up a cosplay level, but I raised my “delicious” stats this expo thanks to a box of Japanese crackers Carpboy bought. Big plans for this year, so big I think I’ll retire when it’s done.

School: Well after this semester I’ll have a degree in Japanese, and will not know what to do with myself. However, I’m very thankful that I will no longer have to see Reiman, and even more grateful that there will be no more pressures of tests, book fee’s, homework, and final grades to deal with.

Well this LJ post is officially to long for sane people to read. But there it is an update.

    Re-Vitalize
In an effort to get back into my old habbits, and feelings I'm going to try and post on this journal as much as possible. So today, after hearing about how we're so broke we're actually borrowing money from China (The USA that is. I'm sure China would punch me in the face if I asked it for a loan) I drew this picture.

    http://artpad.art.com/gallery/?i7d0yi1b35p0

    P.S This has nothing to do with America's money crisis, Matt just forced me to draw a picture on this site. ^^;;

    Behold the evil spawn......
